Minister Bhattarai, Chinese envoy Hou discuss Nepal’s preparations to tackle coronavirus



KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi on Tuesday discussed wide-ranging impacts caused by an outbreak of coronavirus.

During the meeting at the Ministry, they discussed problems created by coronavirus epidemic, control mechanism and preparedness.

Envoy Hou shared experience with Minister Bhattarai about attempts made by China to control and prevent coronavirus, informing that some 59,000 Chinese nationals have already returned home following successful treatment.

Expressing her belief that Nepal will not witness an outbreak of coronavirus, Ambassador Hou said that China will assist Nepal in case of an outbreak.

Minister Bhattarai expressed his happiness that China is soon succeeding to contain coronavirus and appraised the envoy on preparations made by Nepal to contain a possible outbreak.

Minister Bhattarai said that Nepal has managed screening at Tribhuvan International Airport and arranged isolation beds at hospitals to deal with a possible outbreak.
