Railway Bill-2076 enters parliament

KATHMANDU: The National Assembly (NA) today passed two bills unanimously.

Thursday’s meeting of the NA endorsed ‘Policy Research Foundation Bill-2076’ and ‘Revenue Leakage (Investigation and Control) First Amendment Bill’, tabled by Finance Minister Dr Yubraj Khatiwada on the behalf of the Prime Minister.

Likewise, the meeting decided to send Nepal Special Service Bill-2076 at Legislative Assembly Management Committee for clause-wise discussion.

Prior to this, responding to lawmakers’ queries on Policy Research Foundation Bill, Minister Dr Khatiwada stated that questions raised in the parliament could be addressed through amendment.

He expressed the hope that the Foundation Bill would be useful to make the country’s strategic relation, foreign policy and development work more effective.

Meanwhile, Minister Dr Khatiwada also tabled the ‘Railway Bill-2076’ in today’s meeting on behalf of the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport.

The next NA meeting has been scheduled for January 12.
