Nepal Police issues directive to ramp up security surveillance



KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has directed the bodies concerned to increase security surveillance across the nation.

The Nepal Police asked district police office of all 77 districts to increase security surveillance with high alertness, saying criminal activities might increase.

Spokesperson of Nepal Police, Superintendent of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar said, “All the District Police Offices have been asked to strictly follow the security plan being implemented since earlier.

They have been asked to pay special attention in the course of mobilizing the joint team by reviewing security challenge.”

A teacher Rajendra Kumar Shrestha was murdered at Miklajung of Morang on December 8. Police said that there was involvement of Netra Bikram Chan Group in the murder. The Home Ministry had taken ‘security briefing’ from chiefs of all three security bodies on Wednesday, the day after the incident.

However, Spokesperson at the Home Ministry, Chakra Bahadur Budha, shared that the briefing was regular briefing.

Earlier to this, the Group was involved in illegal activities like destroying physical infrastructures at different places and exploding bomb.

The government on March 12, 2019, had decided to stop activities of Chand Group after the group started carrying out criminal activities.

Police have seized 43 pistols, 500 rounds of bullets, pressure cooker bombs, 210 detonators as well as other explosive materials and weapons from the Group, according to Police Headquarters, Naxal. RSS
