KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has instructed its cadres to stage nationwide demonstrations against the government.

A meeting of office-bearers held at the residence of President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha on Thursday directed the district Chairpersons to stage a nationwide protest.

The main opposition has planned the protest on December 14 against the arrest of senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel in Tanahun.

A meeting of office-bearers has decided to make the protest effective in 77 districts.

It has been concluded that the program on December 14 will be taken as a beginning and the vigilance against the government will continue even after that, said Joint General Secretary Prakash Sharan Mahat.
