North Korean Ambassador calls on Speaker Sapkota

KATHMANDU: North Korean Ambassador to Nepal Jo Young Men has paid a courtesy call on Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota.

During a meeting held at the Speaker’s Office in Singh Durbar on Tuesday, Speaker Sapkota congratulated Ambassador Jo on the success achieved by North Korea in controlling COVID-19 and expressed happiness over the exemplary performance to the rest of the world.

He said that Nepal was fully focused on COVID-19 and expressed confidence that after the epidemic, the work related to the relations between the two parliaments, governments, and peoples would be reactivated and high-level visits would be exchanged between the two countries.

Speaker Sapkota thanked Ambassador Jo for expressing concern over the floods and landslides in Nepal.

Ambassador Jo said that no citizen was infected with COVID-19 due to the high vigilance adopted by North Korea, adding that Nepal and other allies could not be invited to the 75th anniversary of the party’s establishment due to COVID-19.

Ambassador Jo expressed confidence that Nepal would soon win over COVID-19 through the efforts of the parliament and the government.

He said that further discussions and exchange of visits were expected between Nepal and North Korea through the Parliamentary Friendship Group after the end of the pandemic.
