We are heading to critical situation, says govt as COVID-19 cases surges



KATHMANDU: The government has said that Nepal’s health system is heading towards the crucial stage as the rate of coronavirus infections surges in recent days.

It claimed that the situation has become more difficult as the number of admissions has increased rather than the number of discharges.

“Due to the regular rise of infections, hospitals and isolation centers are full of infected persons,” said Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, “It has put Nepal’s health system in a very difficult situation.

The country recorded a total of 5,008 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours in the highest single-day spike.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the recent data, the total number of cases reached 105,684 in the country as of Saturday afternoon.

Nepal has 30,818 active cases as of Saturday.
