Writ filed against Bhatta’s appointment as IBN CEO

KATHMANDU: A writ petition has been filed at Patan High Court on Tuesday demanding the annulment of the government’s decision to appoint Sushil Bhatta as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Investment Board Nepal (IBN).

Advocate Jaya Bahadur Bhujel moved the court on Monday demanding an interim order against the appointment.

In the petition, the Government of Nepal Council of Ministers, Investment Board Nepal, recommendation committee for appointment of the CEO and Sushil Bhatt have been made the defendants.

The petitioner has claimed that Bhatt’s appointment to the board was illegal on the basis of both merit and intention.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held last Monday evening had appointed Bhatta to the post.

Three names were recommended for the post of CEO before the Council of Ministers. The names of the National Reconstruction Authority’s CEO Sushil Gyawali and Dr. Saroj Koirala along with Bhatta were recommended by the committee formed for the selection of the CEO.
