Ireland-Nepal Chamber of Commerce formed

The ‘Ireland-Nepal Chamber of Commerce’ has been formed in chairmanship of Vincent Barry, a noted entrepreneur in Ireland.

On a virtual event held yesterday, Nepali Ambassador to Ireland Durga Bahadur Subedi made announcement for the same.

The newly formed committee has Dipeshman Shakya as its executive chief, Pro Dorak Turley, Jivan Timalsina, Ganesh Prasai and Nawaraj Koirala as vice-presidents.

Similarly, Prakash Mali, Bal Krishna Shrestha, Rajan Kafle, Alan Marshal Sanka and Om Adhikari have been selected as directors of the committee.

Likewise, Ellison Erwin has been selected as general-secretary, Chandrakala Niraula and others as deputy general-secretary. Binod Karki, Rob Matel, Tony Nation, Sher Rinan among others have been selected as members.

On the occasion, Ambassador Subedi expressed his confidence that the Chamber would help bring in Irish investment in Nepal and expand the market for Nepali goods and services in Ireland.

Further, the Nepali Ambassador held the belief that it would help in promotion of Nepal’s tourism in Ireland.

Bank in Lahan sealed off after employees test positive for coronavirus

The Global IME Bank in Lahan has been sealed off after a bank staffer tested positive for coronavirus. Other staffers at the bank have been kept in quarantine.

A 34-year-old bank employee from Mahottari was found positive for the COVID-19. According to Lahan Municipality’s health section chief Ram Sundar Yadav, the bank employees were kept in a quarantine facility set up at a local hotel.

The employee had the symptoms as common cold and fever. He is now receiving treatment at an isolation ward of the Janakpur-based State Hospital.

As he had discharged duty from the bank counter at the Inland Revenue Office of Lahan, those in the Inland Revenue Office have also been quarantined.

Office Chief Kamal Bahadur Rajlawat informed that the services in the bank were halted with acute need of PCR tests among its staffers.

Country on path of development and prosperity: PM Oli

Prime Minister KP Oli has said that the country was on the path of development and prosperity by ending the political transition.

PM Oli said that Nepal is heading on the path of development and prosperity by ending the political transition by constitutionally safeguarding the achievements of decades-long political struggles.

The government was sincerely active to build an equitable society along with the economic equality by ensuring access and representation of the indigenous people in the national life through the promotion and development of their social, economic, cultural, lingual, arts, literature and skills as per the Constitution of Nepal and existing laws.

NEA to cut power supply of consumers not paying electricity bills for two months

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) will now cut off the electricity supply, without issuing any prior notice, of the customers failing to clear their electricity bills for two consecutive months.

The NEA has come up with this provision by enforcing a new bylaw to regulate the use of smart meters that the state-owned power utility launched for its customers on Sunday.

According to the authority, the provision came into effect from July 16, the commencement of the current fiscal year.
