Oppositions’ proposals for deducting expenditure refused

KATHMANDU: All 26 proposals registered by the opposition parties, seeking the deduction of expenditure under several headings of the Appropriation Bill-2077 BS have been refused by the House of Representatives.

In today session of the Lower House, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota had presented the proposals to the meeting for decisions and they were rejected by a two-thirds majority.

The proposals were put forth by Pushpa Bhusal, Uma Regmi, Sanjay Kumar Gautam, Laxmi Pariyar, Sujata Pariyar, Dr Minendra Prasad Rijal, Bahadur Singh Lama, Dila Sangroula, Rajendra Kumar KC and Devendra Raj Kandel of Nepali Congress.

NC other lawmakers Meen Bahadur Bishwakarma, Parbata DC Chaudhary, Padma Narayan Chaudhary, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Gagan Kumar Thapa, Atharkamal Musalman, Dr Narayan Khadka, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Bhimsen Das Pradhan, Rangamati Shahi and Prakash Man Singh also proposed the House to deduct expenditures mentioned under several headings.

Proposals registered by Durga Poudel of Rastriya Janamorcha, Prem Suwal of Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party and Pradip Yadav and Rambabu Kumar Yadav for the same were also not entertained by the session.

Prior to this, the Speaker allocated time to respective members to withdraw the proposals.

The lawmakers declined to the Speaker’s request, citing they were not convinced by replies to the issues they raised over the Bill.
