KATHMANDU: The Nepal government adopted a zero tolerance policy on corruption, assuring the lawmakers that it will be implemented even during the coronavirus pandemic.
Oli said there have been an allegation that the government misappropriated a budget of Rs 10 billion in the name of preventing and controlling the COVID-19.
Addressing the parliament on Wednesday, Prime Minister Oli said auditing cannot be done every day. It will be done in due course, he said.
Meanwhile, he assured that embezzlements have not taken place and added that if anyone found involved in corruption, the government will bring them to book.”
“We have brought those involved in corruption to book,” said Oli.
Meanwhile, he also appreciated the roles played by the local units in providing relief to the people hit by the COVID-19 during the lockdown.
“We provided relief to the people in the crisis induced by the lockdown,” said Oli.
“I cannot say that there is no corruption at all. If a person is involved in the corruption during global pandemic, it will not be tolerated.”
