Monsoon to start after a week: MFD

KATHMANDU: Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has said the monsoon will begin after a week.

The monsoon normally begins from today or June 10 in Nepal but it has been delayed this year.

Talking to Khabarhub, Barun Paudel, a meteorologist, said the monsoon system lies in the north part of the Bay of Bengal and it will take a week to arrive in Nepal.

The monsoon system will gradually surge towards west and enter Nepal via Darjeeling in a few days, said Paudel.

Meanwhile, heavy rains are occurring in places including Surkhet of Karnali Pradesh.

Similarly, rain is taking place in some places of Pradesh 5, Gandaki Pradesh, Bagmati Pradesh, Pradesh 2, said MFD.

Rain is likely to occur in some places of Pradesh 1, Bagmati Pradesh, Gandaki Pradesh and Pradesh 5 today afternoon and tonight.
