2,895 samples tested for COVID-19 in Nepal so far

KATHMANDU: Nepal has not reported new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) for the past five days.

Speaking at a regular press briefing organized by the Ministry of Health and Population on Thursday, Spokesperson Bikash Devkota said that no cases have been found since Saturday.

Nepal had reported three COVID-19 cases on Saturday taking the total cases to nine.

According to Spokesperson Devkota, a total of 2,895 samples have been tested as of Thursday afternoon.

A total of 2,383 tests were carried out at the Kathmandu-based National Public Health Laboratory and 513 in different labs outside the Valley.

Test for 193 samples is underway, he added.

Meanwhile, the government has started diagnosis through rapid test kits in Kanchanpur and Kailali districts.

A total of 66 samples have been so far and all the samples have tested negative, Spokesperson Devkota shared at the press meet.
