CHITWAN: A census of birds at all national parks, protected areas and reserves in the country, is underway.

Former chairperson of World Education Society, Chitwan, Basu DC, informed that the counting of birds in 65 places, including the wetlands of the Chitwan National Park, is being carried out by 22 different teams.

The census of birds in Nepal is carried out from January 4-19 every year.

According to him, the census of waterbirds at Narayani river bank, Rapti river bank and Chitwan National Park would be conducted by separate teams.

He said that the bird census started from the Kumroj community forest of the Chitwan National Park.

Cameras, binoculars and telescopes are being used for the census.
