Nepal had set a goal to bring in 2 million tourists in 2020

KATHMANDU: A total of 220,117 foreigners have visited Nepal in the last 11 months of the year 2020.

Most of them came to Nepal between January and March. The Nepal government had inaugurated Nepal Visit 2020 with much fanfare with the aim of bringing in 2 million foreign tourists.

The government’s tourism goal was seriously hit due to COVID-19 pandemic this year. Tourists stopped coming since the Nepal government imposed lockdown on March 24 to stem coronavirus.

The highest number of tourists (75,000) came to Nepal from Asian countries this year, according to Nepal Tourism Board.
