10 succumb to COVID-19, Nepal’s death toll hits 600



KATHMANDU: Nepal recorded 10 new coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 600, the Ministry of Health and Population stated.

Kathmandu Valley recorded three coronavirus-related deaths.

According to the Ministry, nine men and one woman have died of the pandemic.

Two men aged 29 and 52 years in Jhapa, three men aged 46, 52, and 68 years in Sunsari, a 71-year-old man in Kathmandu, 84 years in Lalitpur, and two men aged 47 and 84 years in Rupandehi succumbed to the pandemic.

Likewise, an 87-year-old woman in Kathmandu died of the coronavirus.

Nepal had recorded 12 COVID-19 deaths on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the country recorded a total of 2,059 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the recent data, the total number of cases reached 100,676 in the country as of Friday afternoon.

Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor said that altogether 13,279 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.

According to Dr. Gautam, 1,680 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 73,023 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 72.5 percent, he added.

Nepal currently has 27,053 active cases, he said.

Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 11,176 people are in institutional isolation and 15,877 others are in home isolation facilities.
