Construction work accelerated on multiple hydel projects in Myagdi



MYAGDI: Around 65 per cent of the construction works have been completed on Gharkhola Hydroelectricity Project at Annapurna rural municipality in Myagdi. Construction work of the reservoir, power house, tunnel, and installation of the penstock pipe of the 14-megawatts capacity project has been accelerated.

Joseb Bajracharya, Resident engineer of Myagdi Hydropower Limited said that the project has so far witnessed 65 per cent physical progress.

The project was started in January 2018.

The project’s reservoir is being constructed at Kurilabagar at the border of Annapurna rural municipality, ward no 5 Shikha and ward no 6 Ghar.

According to him, the dam would be 12 meters high from its foundation.

Likewise, the construction work of the dam and ‘de-sander’ has also reached the final stages.

The works on installation of the 38.3 meters long de-sander approach canal from the de-sander to the tunnel is in final stage.

Out of the 3,005-meter-long tunnel, 2,175 meters have been dug so far, he said.

Likewise, the tunnel is being dug up to 1,218 meters towards the dam and 957 meters from the ‘outlet’ at Kirathapne.

According to him, explosives have been used for the tunnel construction under the supervision of soldiers of the Nepali Army Shreebaks Company based at Ghar.

Similarly, earthwork is underway for the construction of a powerhouse at Pokharebagar.

A 490-meter-long penstock pipe will be installed from the outlet to the powerhouse.

Installation work of the penstock pipe will be initiated soon after the Dashain festival, Bajracharya added.

The South Asian Infrastructure Pvt Ltd is the civil contractor of the project.
