IPL2020: Hyderabad defeats Punjab by 69 runs



KATHMANDU: Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kings XI Punjab by 69 runs in a cricket match held under the Indian Premier League in Dubai on Thursday night.

Punjab was restricted to 132 runs in 16.5 overs while it was chasing the 202-run target set by Hyderabad at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Despite Nicholas Pooran’s 77 runs studded with five fours and seven sixes, Punjab could not secure win against Hyderabad.

KL Rahul and Simran Singh made 11 runs each for Punjab while the other batsmen could reach double-digit runs.

In reply, Hyderabad’s Rashid Khan took three wickets and KK Ahmed and T Natarajan bagged two wickets each.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Hyderabad notched up 201 runs losing six wickets in 20 overs.

Openers Jonny Bairstow and Captain DA Warner scored a half-century. Bairstow top-scored with 97 runs followed by Warner with 52 runs.

Bairstow and Warner had played a 160-run partnership in 15 overs for the first wicket.

With this with win, Hyderabad is in the third position with six points from six games and Punjab is at the bottom with two points from six games.
