Agenda proposing ‘PM Oli to serve full term’ to be tabled at NCP Standing Committee meeting

KATHMANDU: An agenda proposing Prime Minister KP Oli for the full term of five years is set to be tabled at the Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Friday.

Likewise, Dahal will be given the authority to look after the party affairs.

Dahal and Oli on Wednesday prepared a work plan on the implementation of report prepared by the six-member task force.

Earlier today, Chairman of NCP Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Prime Minister Oli held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s official’s residence in Baluwatar.

The meeting was focused on finalizing agenda for the Standing Committee meetings, Baluwatar sources said.

The work plan will be sent to the Standing Committee members.

Dahal and Oli also discussed the report prepared by the six-member task force led by party General Secretary Bishnu Poudel to narrow down the rift seen inside the ruling party.

Despite coming closer on some major issues, including the decision to nominate NCP Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam to the National Assembly, the party leadership is caught in a dispute on issues regarding the supposed cabinet reshuffle, and Chief Ministers.

Party insiders say that leadership is reluctant to address the recommendations of the task force.

Likewise, Dahal and Oli also discussed the appointment of two ministers – Minister of Communication and Information, and Minister of Finance – after the resignation of the then Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada.
