KATHMANDU: The National Assembly members have expressed concerns over growing incidences of murder and violence in the country, seeking an end to such kind of acts.
Airing views in a special hour of the today’s NA session, Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s Gopal Bhattarai demanded the government bring perpetrators behind such incidents including the mass killings in Rukum and Rupandehi to book.
It may be noted that six people had lost their lives to the May 23 Rukum (West) incident over the inter-caste marriage attempt and five persons including a woman were murdered last night at Mainahawa village near Kanchhi Bazaar of Tilottama municipality-10 in Rupandehi district.
Among the victims were workers at the cow farm owened by Krishna Pun. A couple were also killed.
CPN’s Taraman Swar said only lockdown was a sole means to prevent and control COVID-19. ”This has been implemented as the single weapon to combat the virus, and we lack measures to tackle with long-term results of the disease,” he said, speaking of the need of emphatically making the health system robust.
The lawmaker took time to demand an investigation into an alleged suicide of Siddhartha Auji of Accham on Sunday. Taradevi Bhatta of Nepali Congress demanded the government’s attention towards not letting the short of PCR testing kits happen while Prakash Panth from the same party urged the government to announce an economic package to mitigate adverse effect on employment with the coronavirus crisis. RSS
