Buildings at Kharipati being readied for quarantine of Nepali evacuees from China



BHAKTAPUR: At a time when the guardians of Nepali students studying in China are worrying much about the health condition of their children, the government has intensified preparation for the quarantine facility at Kharipati, Bhaktpur.

Two buildings of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) at Kharipati are being emptied. Environment and social study department, and a hostel building are being readied for those who return from China owing to the spread of coronavirus.

Information on this was shared by an associate director at the Kharipati office of NEA, Kheshab Raj Oli.

Preparation for it was made after a government team comprising representatives from the technical department of Nepal Army and the Health Ministry conducted a study visit and finalized along with the report.

The study team had submitted the report that as many as 124 persons could be provided a quarantine facility at the NEA building of Kharipati, Bhaktpur.

Even a team of Chief District Officer at Bhaktpur, Homkala Pandey, Metropolitan Police Premises of Bhaktapur, Sabin Pradhan, and others visited the Kharipati-based NEA office.

Associate director Oli, however, said the employees at the office were panicked over government decision to set up quarantine.

According to him, as the employees were gripped with the fear of the spread of coronavirus, there was no condition of work but the option to close down 26 departments.

Meanwhile, the 6th municipal assembly of Changunarayan municipality has protested government decision to set up quarantine at Kharipati.

The people’s representatives here said they were speaking the voice of locals that the government’s decision was wrong.
