Srinagar area sealed after death of COVID-19 patient

SALYAN: After the death of a 67-year-old man of Sharada Municipality, Srinagar area has been sealed from Sunday.

According to Suresh Adhikari, the Mayor of Sharada Municipality, Shree Nagar Bazaar has been sealed for one week starting from Sunday.

Rikha Ram Pun, the COVID-19 control focal person of District Public Health Office Salyan, after noticing that many people had attended the funeral ceremony of a patient who had died while undergoing treatment in Dang, District Administration Office(DAO) decided to seal the area to stop transmission in the community.

According to Focal Person Pun, the person had tested coronavirus positive in the swab collected posthumously. The funeral ritual carried out as per the Hindu rituals had been attended by a number of people from Shreenagar.

“Fearing there could be coronavirus transmission in the people who had attended the hearse, the DAO has sealed the area to stop the widespread of the pandemic,” Pun elaborated.

Mayor Adhikari also added there has been high alert in the area and preparations are made for the swab collections of all the people who attended the funeral.
