COVID-19 cases cross 14,000-mark in Province 2



JANAKPUR: Coronavirus cases in Province 2 have crossed the 14,000-mark.

Vijay Kumar Jha, Acting Director of the Health Directorate, Province No. 2, said that the number of infected people has increased to 14,014 after the infection was confirmed in 71 more people today.

Tests at Gaur Hospital, Rautahat, Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Janakpur, and Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital, Birgunj confirmed the infection in 39 people in Rautahat, 10 in Bara, eight in Parsa, seven in Dhanusha, five in Siraha, and two in Mahottari.

Similarly, 250 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours.

The number of those discharged has reached 11,530, said Acting Director Jha.

He said that 150 people were discharged in Dhanusha, 73 in Rautahat, 19 in Saptari, and eight in Siraha on Thursday.

The number of active cases in the province stands at 2,340.

Meanwhile, the province recorded another coronavirus related death.

A 70-year-old man of Chiraiya Tole in Shahid Nagar Municipality Ward No. 1 of Dhanusha has died due to the infection, taking the death toll in the province to 144.
