KATHMANDU: Nepal recorded 12 new coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 590, the Ministry of Health and Population stated.
According to the Ministry, eight males and four females have died of the pandemic. Kathmandu Valley recorded five coronavirus-related deaths.
A 39-year-old man in Sunsari, aged 70 years in Dhanusha, aged 58 and 91 years in Kathmandu, aged 81, 81 and 92 years in Chitwan nad 83 years in Kaski died of the coronavirus.
Likewise, a 79-year-old woman in Kathmandu, 73 years in Lalitpur, 82 years in Bhaktapur and 82 years in Surkhet succumbed to the pandemic.
Nepal had recorded 15 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the country recorded a total of 4,364 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours in a record high single-day spike.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the recent data, the total number of active cases reached 98,617 in the country as of Thursday afternoon.
Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor said that altogether 18,473 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.
According to Dr. Gautam, 2,675 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 71,343 in the country.
