Don’t nominate Bamdev Gautam to National Assembly: Bibeksheel

KATHMANDU: The Bibeksheel Nepali Party has demanded not to nominate Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam to the National Assembly.

The party has stated that it has drawn attention to the decision to nominate Gautam who had lost in the House of Representatives election, a member of the upper house.

In a statement, the party stated that Gautam’s appointment would tarnish the image of the National Assembly.

The party claims that it is unconstitutional to make Gautam a member of the National Assembly as he has stated that he will go to the National Assembly to become a minister, despite the constitutional provision that a person who loses the House of Representatives election cannot be appointed as a minister in the same term.

The ruling party on Thursday had decided to pick Gautam to the vacant post of the National Assembly.
