Gandaki Province records 59 additional COVID-19 cases



KATHMANDU: As many as 59 cases have been diagnosed with the COVID-19 in Gandaki Pradesh in the past 24 hours.

The new cases were confirmed during tests conducted at laboratories of Bharatpur Hospital, Chitwan Medical College and Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences.

The newly infected are 10 from Gorkha, 31 from Kaski, three from Tanahun, nine from Baglung and six from Nawalparasi, according to the Ministry of Social Development of Gandaki Pradesh.

One among those infected is a patient undergoing treatment at Gandaki Medical College based in Pokhara. She is a 27-year-old female doctor of Parkland Hospital.

Similarly, 20 females and four males are the staffers of Pokhara Foods P. Ltd. based in Pokhara Metropolitan City while the other infection cases were confirmed through contact tracing.

Likewise, one more person has died from coronavirus in the province. The deceased is a 63-year-old woman of Annapurana-1, Kaski.

She died in the course of treatment at Birendra Hospital, Chhauni on Sunday.

She was suffering from brain tumor and kidney ailments. Her swab report had come out positive on September 4.

With this, the number of deaths from coronavirus in Gandaki Pradesh has reached 20 and the number of infection cases has reached 1,612 as of Tuesday afternoon.
