Four killed in separate incidents



KATHMANDU: Four people have died in separate incidents in Saptari and Nuwakot districts today.

A report from Rajbiraj said that a person was killed after he was knocked down by a motorcycle along the East-West Highway at Rupani of Saptari.

Police identified the victim as Dev Narayan Yadav of Khiksar, Shambhunath municipality-1.

Yadav, who was critically injured due to the motorbike-hit, died on the way to the local Unique Hospital. Police have taken the motorcyclist under control for investigation.

In another incident, a five-year-old boy drowned in a pond at Tilathi Koiladi rural municipality-8 of Saptari district today. He is Shivam Mandal, son of Radhe Kumar Mandal. The boy drowned in a pond near his house while taking a bath, the Area Police Office Hanumannagar said.

One killed due to snakebite

A 16-year-old boy has died due to snakebite today. He is Golu Dev, son of Pawan Dev of Rajbiraj municipality-16.

A poisonous snake had bitten him while he was walking near his house, the District Police Office Saptari said. Golu was rushed to the Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital at Rajbiraj for treatment. He was referred to Dharan from there and died on the way to Dharan.

Likewise, 23-year-old Radha Sharma was seriously injured after she was bitten by a poisonous snake at Nargho of Rajgadh rural municipality in Saptari today. The serpent bit the woman while she was working at the cowshed, police said.

She has been taken to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for treatment.

Meanwhile, in Nuwakot, 43-year-old Ram Bahadur Tamang died after falling from a cliff at Kalleridanda, Tarakeshwar rural municipality-5 on Friday evening. Tamang was going towards his sister’s home when he fell off the cliff. He was rescued but died on the way to hospital, police said.
