NHRC directs govt not to arrest individuals arbitrarily



KATHMANDU: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the government not to arrest individuals arbitrarily and detain them.

Objectign to the arrest of Chakra Bahadur Khatri of Khotang during the lockdown, the NHRC said no individuals including Khatri can be arrested and detained arbitrarily.

Khatri has been arrested six times since April 14 without informing his family members, ill-treated and disappeared arbitrarily, said NHRC in a statement.
