No new COVID-19 case reported in Nepal in past 24 hours



KATHMANDU: Nepal has not reported new COVID-19 case in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said on Thursday.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Bikash Devkota said that the total number of coronavirus infected in Nepal stands at 99 with 22 recovered after treatment.

According to Dr. Devkota, 31 people are infected in Province 1, 30 in Province 2, seven in Bagmati Province, two in Gandaki Province, 24 in Province 5 and five in Far-Western Province.

A total of 14,509 samples have been tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method so far. In the last 24 hours, only 404 samples have been tested across the country.

Similarly, 54,093 samples have been tested by the Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) method so far.

A total of 133 COVID-19 suspects have been isolated and 17,372 persons quarantined across the country.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has deployed a special team to collect samples from areas at risk based on the number of coronavirus infections found.

Spokesperson Devkota informed that teams have been mobilized to collect samples at the hotspots of Udayapur, Birgunj and Nepalgunj which are the most affected.

He informed that a team led by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division including the Nepal Army has been sent to all three places.

According to him, the team will collect 500 samples from Udayapur and 1,000 samples each from Birgunj and Nepalgunj.
