President to present govt’s policies, program on May 15



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari will be presenting the government’s policies and programs on May 15.

As per the schedule of the Federal Parliament, priorities and principles of the budget for the fiscal year 2020/21 will be presented during a joint session of House of Representatives and National Assembly on May 15.

The pre-budget discussion will be held for three days in the House of Representatives and two days in the National Assembly, according to Parliament Secretariat.

The pre-budget discussion will be held in the House of Representatives on May 10-12 and in the National Assembly on May 10-11. Similarly, the government will present an economic survey on May 26.

As there is a Constitutional provision that the budget should be unveiled on May 28, there is a legal provision that the pre-budget should be discussed 15 days before that.

The session of the Federal Parliament will begin at 4 pm on Friday. The Parliament Secretariat is preparing to hold the meeting by adopting security measures to prevent coronavirus.
