Capital witnessing rain, thunderstorm



KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley is witnessing rains amidst thunderstorm and lighting today.

Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) said rains coupled with thunderstorm and lighting will continue for some days due to the winds arriving from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.

According to Barun Paudel, a meteorologist, the rain coupled with thunderstorm and lightning will occur in some places in the hilly western, eastern and central regions towards the afternoon today.

The weather is generally cloudy in the western region and partly cloudy in the rest of the country with possibility of light to moderate rain coupled  with thunder and lightning at some places of the western region and at one or two places of the eastern and central regions.

According to MFD, the similar type of weather pattern will continue tonight.

Meanwhile, Birendranagar has witnessed 42 millimeters of rainfall followed by Okhaldhunga and Dhangadhi with 32 and 25 millimeters, respectively in the past 24 hours.
