Bangladeshi Army Chief arrives in Nepal on five-day visit

KATHMANDU: On an official invitation of Nepal Army (NA) Chief Purna Chandra Thapa, Bangladeshi Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed arrived on a five-day visit to Nepal on Friday.

Upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), he was welcomed by Major General Nirmal Kumar Thapa, NA Directorate of Public Relations said in a statement.

A troupe of NA will offer a guard of honor to Ahmed at NA Headquarters on Saturday.

During the visit, the army chief is scheduled to meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ishwor Pokharel and NA Chief Thapa.

During the meetings, the army chief will discuss various issues on strengthening existing friendly relations and mutual support between armies of the two countries.

He will return home on February 11.
