MAHOTTARI: Nepali Congress (NC) Mahasamiti Member Lalan Kumar Raya was killed today in a road accident that happened at Tuteshwor Chowk in Bardibas Municipality-5, Mahottari district.
The 58-year-old NC leader was critically injured after a sugarcane-laden stationary truck (Na 4 Kha 5813) was hit by a bus (Na 5 Kha 6411) en route to Kathmandu at 5:00 am, Superintendent of Police Shyam Krishna Adhikari said.
Raya was rushed to Janakpur for the treatment after the incident but was referred to Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar where the doctors pronounced Raya as dead at 9:00 this morning, Raya’s relative Asim Dube said.
In the mishap, 18 other NC cadres and the general public were injured and receiving treatment at different hospitals in Bardibas.
