SYDNEY: Security forces in Australia barred Nepal’s Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Bhattarai from taking out a promotional and publicity rally in Sydney.

Minister Bhattarai, who had reached Sydney to inaugurate and promote Visit Nepal Year 2020, was obstructed by the police there when he was trying to take out a rally without prior permission from the local authorities.

According to the participants of the rally, NSW police had warned the rally participants not to organize the rally.

The Australian police had barred them since the rally ‘disturbed’ the pedestrians walking on the footpath.

Nepali Ambassador to Australia Mahesh Dahal, among others were also present in the rally.

Minister Bhattarai had reached Australia to launch and promote VNY2020 a few days back.
