KATHMANDU: The High Court Patan has slapped a five-year jail term on the main guilty of gang rape that took place at Hotel Landmark, Durbarmarg.

Similarly, the main guilty has been asked to provide Rs 700,000 in compensation to the victim. A division bench of Chief Justice Kumar Chudal and Judge Kiran Poudel on Monday made the verdict continuing the decision of Kathmandu District Court.

Kathmandu District Court had made this verdict on November 13, 2019. Shailesh Karki, Bikas Gautam, Deepak Shrestha, and Rabi Poudel, on January 21, 2019, had raped the 18-year-old girl at Hotel Landmark, Durbarmarg.

A single bench of Judge of Kathmandu District Court, Kamal Prasad Pokharel, on November 7, 2019, had slapped five years and two months imprisonment to main guilty, Shailesh Karki, of Ramechhap, and providing Rs 700,000 compensation to the victim girl.

Similarly, 14 months jail term was slapped on the other three guilties of the incident. The appeal against the decision was filed at the High Court on September 10, 2020.
