KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has warned that with the shortage of beds in the Kathmandu Valley hospitals, they will not be able to bear the pressure if the coronavirus infection rate continues to rise at the current ratio.
Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, Spokesperson at Ministry said that there are additional challenges in managing the infected people in Kathmandu.
He further stated that the hospitals in the Valley could not bear the pressure as the infection rate increases at the same ratio.
Dr. Gautam maintained that since the government hospitals alone cannot treat the COVID-19 infected people, private hospitals need to cooperate with the government for the treatment of infected people.
He urged people to maintain extreme cautiousness saying that the infection seemed to have been ignored as the people are creating crowds at the market places with major festivals like Dashain approaching closer.
The ministry has blamed people for not following public health standards. Due to public ignorance, the infection rate is rising each day in Kathmandu.
