Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll reaches 578 with 15 new fatalities

KATHMANDU: A total of 15 more COVID-19 patients, including six in Kathmandu Valley, died in the last 24 hours.

Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population stated that the death toll from the pandemic has reached 578 with 15 new fatalities as of Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the deceased are 10 males and five females.

Two males from Morang — aged 40 and 60 — succumbed to coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Likewise, a 50-year-old woman from Siraha, a 72-year-old woman from Rautahat, a 66-year-old woman and a 72-year-old woman from Kathmandu succumbed to coronavirus.

Similarly, four males aged 45, 53, 64 and 69 years from Kathmandu succumbed to the pandemic.

Likewise, a male, 46, from Lalitpur and another male, 61, from Chitwan also died from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

A 55-year-old male from Rupandehi, a 76-year-old male from Nawalparasi, and a 71-year-old woman from Dang district died from the virus in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said today.

Meanwhile, a total of 3,439 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across the nation in the last 24 hours.

With this, the total number of coronavirus infections has reached 94,253.

The new number of coronavirus cases was confirmed in 14,209 PCR tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

A total of 11,13,486 PCR tests have been carried out so far.

On the occasion, it was shared that a total of 1,126 people returned home after recovery from coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

With this, the number of people discharged after recovery has reached 11,13,486. The recovery percentage as of today is 72.9  percent.

The Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,684 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.

Nepal currently has 25,007 active cases.
