Seven arrested over Rato Machindranath chariot dispute released



KATHMANDU: Seven persons arrested last Thursday in a clash with the police over Rato Machindranath chariot have been released on Monday.

Six have tested positive for coronavirus while next was found suffering from mental illness and was released with priority for treatment.

Three others were released on Sunday from Metropolitan Police Range.

Spokesperson of Metropolitan Police Range Santosh Tamang confirmed that ten persons out of 20 arrested on September 3 have been released today. He added that police had lodged a case against 17 out of those arrestees.

The police said that ten others are still in custody.

Meanwhile, some individuals protested in front of the District Administration Office in Lalitpur demanding the release of all those arrested.
