SP task force recommends dismissing lawmaker Sarita Giri

KATHMANDU: A task force formed by Samajwadi Party (SP) has recommended the party office-bearer to dismiss lawmaker Sarita Giri from the post of the lawmaker as well as from the party.

The action has been recommended against Giri for going against the party’s whip to cast votes on the Constitution Amendment Bill related to the revised map of Nepal.

A meeting of Samajwadi Party office-bearer is being held on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the task force’s recommendation.

The Samajbadi Party had earlier formed a task force under its General Secretary Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav with members Mohammad Ishtiyaq Rai and Sushila Shrestha to suggest whether she should be expelled or not.

The party will make a formal decision to this effect and send a letter to the Election Commission informing the party’s move.

It should be recalled that lawmaker Giri had filed an amendment proposal against the Constitution amendment bill that was brought to implement the revised political map of Nepal.

She has been adamant to her stance that Nepal lacks evidences to establish that Kalapani, Limpiyadhura, and Lipu Lekh belongs to Nepal.
