Cabinet meeting underway; likely to appoint new IGP



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the cabinet is underway at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

The cabinet is likely to appoint a new Inspector General of Police (IGP), according to sources.

IGP Thakur Gyawali is retiring on Wednesday after completing his 30-year tenure in the police department.

Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Sailesh Thapa Chhetri and AIG Hari Bahadur Pal are in the race for the coveted post.

Meanwhile, the cabinet meeting is also likely to discuss the government’s future plan of action after the prorogation of the budget session of the parliament.
