Monsoon to become more active after Thursday

KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has warned of floods in the rover and landslides in the hilly regions of the country as incessant rainfall continues in most of the places.

It said the monsoon would become more active in the country from Thursday night heightening flood and landslide risk as the monsoon low pressure system is close by the Tarai region.

Likewise, the Flood Forecasting Division has said there is more risk of flooding in the Tarai region of State-1 and State-2. It has urged all concerned in these areas for preparedness against this disaster.

Rainfall has continued for the last two days in most parts of the country, which the Division says is likely to continue for another few days.

According to the Division, the ongoing rainfall will continue for some days adding it has increased risks of landslides in hilly areas and floods in the rivers.

The rainfall has, however, delighted the farmers as they are busy in paddy plantation.
