184 NA peacekeepers heading to war-torn CAR, Mali today

KATHMANDU: Two contingents the Nepal Army will leave for the war-torn Central African Republic (CAR) and Mali on Tuesday, on a peacekeeping mission at the call of the United Nations.

The peacekeeping mission by the NA to these countries slated three months ago was halted after the UN suspended the peace support operation over the COVID-19 pandemic.

These peacekeepers would board a narrow-body aircraft of the Nepal Airlines Corporation, according to the NA headquarters.

A team of 56 NA peacekeepers will leave for CAR and a team of 128 army engineers for Mali, he said.

A team of 230 peacekeepers of NA would leave for war-ravaged Libya sometime later, according to the NA.
