NC forms ‘economy-focused special committee’ to analyze COVID-19

KATHMANDU: Main opposition party, Nepali Congress has formed an ‘economy-focused special committee’ to study and analyze the impact of coronavirus in various sectors.

The committee will also prepare a vision of the party in this regard.

The party NC, issuing a statement on Wednesday, said that party President Sher Bahadur Deuba formed the committee under the coordination of the former Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat.

Likewise, the committee has other members comprising leaders who had already served as finance minister, state minister and vice-chairman at the National Planning Commission (NPC).

Members in the committee include, former finance minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Mahesh Acharya, Dr Minendra Rijal, Dr Narayan Khadka, Deep Kumar Upadhyay, Chinkaji Shrestha, Bharat Shah, and Uday Shumsher Rana.

Likewise, Dr Shankar Sharma, Dr Prithivi Raj Ligal, Dr Jagadish Chandra Pokhrel, Dr Swarnim Wagle and Dr Govinda Pokhrel are also in the committee.
