Death toll in USA climbs to 72,250 after 2,329 die in 24 hrs

KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 2,329 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 72,250 as of Wednesday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 24,434 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,237,269.

Currently, 965, 215 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,175 are critical.  Meanwhile, 199, 804 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 25, 204 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 8,292 and 4, 179 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 212 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 257,975 and infecting 3,723,745 people as of Wednesday morning.
