KATHMANDU: After getting consistent pressure from the senior leaders of the party, Nepal Communist Party Chairperson and Prime Minister KP Oli has called the secretariat’s meeting for 4 pm on Tuesday.

Citing that the PM started talking decisions without consulting the party or secretariat, senior leaders of NCP including another Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Prachanda, Jhalanath Khanal, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Madhav Kumar Nepal had been putting the PM under pressure demanding for an immediate meeting of the party Secretariat since last four days.

NCP General Secretary, Bishnu Poudel informed the Secretariat members about tomorrow’s meeting scheduled at PM Oli’s residence at Baluwatar.

Some issues like the corruption allegation against the ministers, the government’s decision to assign Nepal Army for the procurement of most essential health materials, dilly-dallying in declaring a package to address the basic needs and relief for the poor and working-class people are likely to be the key agendas Oli has to answer in the meetings.

One of the Secretariats said that the PM agreed to call the meeting after much pressure from most of the members.

Some issues like MCC ratification, making Party’s Vice Chairman Bam Dev Gautam, the mechanism to balance the party and the government etc are also lying pending after PM Oli was admitted to the hospital for his second renal transplantation.

The secretariat was ‘ignored’ since PM had to focus on curbing COVID-19.

The secretariat members complained that ‘social-distancing’ and ‘the busy schedule of the government’ were merely the lame excuses made to avoid the criticism the government might face in the meeting provided it is called.
