KATHMANDU: The government has decided to invest Rs 3.5 billion in the development and extension of aviation sector in the next five years.

Stakeholders believe that the aviation sector will take a giant leap with the investment.

Speaking at a press conference organized by Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) on Wednesday, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai said, “We will take a giant leap in the sector of aviation in the next five years.  A huge amount of money has been invested in the airport.”

Minister Bhattarai further said that Nijgadh International Airport will come into operation in coming five years. ” It is a game changer project.”

Minister Bhattarai further said that there is no option to resolving the aviation traffic jam that often forces pilots to hold planes in the air, Nijgadh International Airport could provide an option to this existing problem.

When Gautam Buddha, Nijgadh International Airport, Pokhara Regional Airport come into operation  and domestic airports are extended, the aviation sector will take a giant leap, added Bhattarai.
