Leaders close to Poudel for not accepting ‘unilateral’ decisions

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) district presidents close to the senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel-led faction have remarked that they should not accept ‘unilateral’ decisions taken on majority votes.

They were making their views during a meeting of party presidents of 40 districts considered ‘close’ to Poudel and party leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula held at the party office in Sanepa on Monday.

At the beginning of the meeting, leader Poudel had briefed district presidents on reasons for boycotting meetings of the central working committee and their tussle with the establishment faction.

The meeting was called to chalk out its future course of action as President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who has remained adamant on his stance, had‘unilaterally’ extended his term and announced the date for the next general convention.

Deuba had, in a central working committee meeting, extended his term until March 3, 2021, while deciding to hold the party’s general convention from February 19-22, 2021.

The meeting was, however, boycotted by the dissenting leaders.
