APF to be assigned for security of railways

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to hand over the responsibility of security related to railway transport to the Armed Police Force (APF).

The Ministry of Home Affairs has already submitted a proposal in this regard to the Council of Ministers.

The APF is being assigned the responsibility until a separate railway security squad is formed by enacting an act on railways.

Home Ministry Spokesperson Chakra Bahadur Budha said that the proposal has been forwarded to hand over the responsibility to the APF for the time being as the clip was stolen from the railway track in Dhanusha.
