Postal Highway related works expedited in Siraha and Saptari, 12-km blacktopped



SIRAHA: The construction works related to the Postal Highway in Siraha and Saptari section have been accelerated lately.

Construction of bridge and road have been forwarded along the around 54-km of section of the Postal Highway, starting from Rajbiraj in Saptari district to Siraha Bazar in Siraha district.

Likewise, around 12-km of road stretching from eastern part of the Rajbiraj to Balan in the western part has been completed, informed Kamal Prasad Yadav, Contact Manager of the construction company -Rauta Shrestha Diwa JV.

Works have been forwarded to blacktop the remaining stretch of the Highway in these sections. Construction of 11 bridges in the 25-km of the Highway has neared completion.

The deadline for the construction of this Highway was end of the previous fiscal year 2019/20 but owing to various reasons, the construction process was impeded.

Contract was awarded to the construction company for Rs 1.2 billon for the Project on December 24, 2017. The Project has achieved 55 per cent physical progress so far, informed Engineer Chandra Yadav.

The 1792 kilometres long Postal Highway is considered to be a vital road for the Terai region as it will connect almost of the districts in the Terai region. It is believed that the Highway would open many doors for the development in the Terai region.
