Disputes in Khokana due to lack of coordination among govt agencies: NA

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA) has said that a dispute erupted in Khokana during the construction of the Kathmandu-Terai fast track due to a lack of necessary coordination among government agencies.

During the discussion in the Development and Technology Committee under the House of Representative, the army said that there was no coordination among the government bodies on the construction of Outer Ring Road, smart city and other projects.

The army said that the problem has been aggravated due to a lack of coordination in the outer ring road and smart city project.

Lieutenant General Prabhuram Sharma said that after resolving the land dispute, the issue of Outer Ring Road and smart city, which has nothing to do with the Fast-Track, caused controversy.

Secretary at the Ministry of Defense, Rashmiraj Pandey, said that there was some delay in the construction due to untimely preparation of DPR, late approval by the Council of Ministers and preparation for COVID-19 and disputes in the area.

During the discussion, the lawmakers questioned the basis for the completion of Fast Track by 2081 BS and the delay in its construction.

The NA has stated that the total physical progress of the project has been achieved by 11.11 percent and financial progress by 9.52 percent.
