TU assistant professor attacked with iron rod



KATHMANDU:  An assistant professor of Tribhuvan University has been assaulted with an iron road.

An irate group of Nepal Student Union (NSU) assaulted Prem Chalaune, the assistant professor at the Central Department of Sociology, with an iron rod this morning.

Chalaune was ruthlessly attacked by the  mob while he was heading to the Central Department of Sociology from Nepal Bank Ltd branch located on the TU premises, said an assistant profession of TU.

Critically injured Chalaune is receiving treatment at Nepal Medicity Hospital.  He has got his right leg fractured and received deep cuts to his head and left leg.

NSU cadres have been staging a protest over the appointment of the head at the Central Department of Sociology, Kirtipur.

Professor Yuba Raj Luitel is the incumbent head of the Central Department of Sociology.

NSU has been demanding that Tika Gautam should be inducted as the head of the department.

Metropolitan Police Chief SP Somendra Singh Rathore said they are investigating the case.
